(Phnom Penh, 26th) Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet has stated that the government will continue to rigorously crack down on telecom network fraud, showing zero tolerance, and emphasized that combating telecom fraud not only safeguards national security but also helps enhance national competitiveness and promote economic development.
According to the 'Cambodia-China Times', while presiding over a cabinet meeting yesterday (24th), Hun Manet noted that although significant achievements have been made in the fight against telecom fraud, law enforcement agencies must maintain high pressure and never allow any slack.
To strengthen international cooperation, Cambodia will host an International Conference on Combatting Telecom Network Crime in Phnom Penh this September 23rd to 24th, with the theme "Joining Hands to Break the Crime Chain and End Telecom Fraud Crimes." The conference is expected to invite ministerial-level officials from 16 countries, senior technical officials from 14 countries, as well as representatives from 6 international organizations.

The cabinet will also review a report on the work of combating telecom fraud that day.
The report points out that over the past year, the authorities have inspected 28,512 locations and dealt with 665 premises suspected to have been used for telecom fraud activities.
As of the 30th of last month, Cambodia has repatriated 21,102 foreign nationals involving 38 countries, mainly from China, Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand, and Bangladesh.
The report also shows that the authorities have conducted investigations in 268 telecom fraud cases, involving a total of 2,773 people. Among them, 2,200 have been detained, including 313 Cambodian citizens.
In addition, the Anti-Corruption Bureau has accepted three corruption investigations related to telecom fraud cases, involving a total of 14 officials and related personnel. The cases are still under further investigation.
