However, someone claiming to be an employee of the center disclosed that Wong only pays technicians a wage of 6 Canadian dollars (about 17.7 Ringgit) per hour, which is far below Canada’s minimum wage standard, sparking suspicions of her being an exploitative boss. Since the whistleblower did not provide concrete evidence, many netizens voiced support for Joey Wong, arguing that people should not easily trust online rumors nor haphazardly attach a negative label to her.
It is worth mentioning that employees of the moxibustion center have previously posted praise about Joey Wong, describing her as genuine and passionate about her work. She reportedly begins her day before 6 a.m. and remains busy until the evening, which has completely changed the staff’s impression of their ‘goddess boss’.
