On the 13th, Philippine Senate President Cayetano stated that the Senate was "under suspected attack."
Live television footage from local Philippine stations showed law enforcement and military personnel entering the Senate building on the evening of the 13th. Gunshots and panicked shouts from crowds were heard inside the building.
Regardless, Philippine National Police Chief Acorda and National Bureau of Investigation Director Matibag both denied that their personnel were involved in the shooting incident.
Philippine Interior Secretary Remulla arrived at the Senate at around 8 p.m. on the 13th.
He stated that his presence at the Senate was not to arrest Senator and former National Police Chief Dela Rosa, but rather his primary task was to ensure "the safety of the senators."
Earlier that day, Dela Rosa posted on social media, stating that he might soon be arrested.
On the 11th, the International Criminal Court released a statement, disclosing that a secret arrest warrant for Dela Rosa issued last November had been made public.
