Leaders of the BEKENU Area Listen to Public Works Department Report

(Miri, 27th) Leaders of the BEKENU area listened today to a report from the Public Works Department (JKR) regarding several stalled construction projects.

Although several public projects in Subis have been delayed, these projects remain in place and will be implemented by the relevant government agencies.

Deputy Minister of Sarawak Ministry of Women, Children and Community Wellbeing Development, Datuk Rosey Yunus, stated that this meeting is a briefing on several projects. We invited regional leaders to participate so they can answer questions from residents of their respective areas after listening to the Public Works Department's report.

She mentioned at a briefing held at the Subis District Office with the Public Works Department on the implementation of BEKENU area's public projects that we hope the delayed projects can be expedited, and we hope the Public Works Department can continue to strive to fulfill its duties.

Reportedly, the projects discussed at the meeting include the government-approved entrance and exit road works of Bekenu, Sepupok, and Batu Niah, and the extension of the Kampung Rambai seaside park's first phase by 500 meters and the second phase by 900 meters.

Additionally, she said they discussed the proposed project to build a sailing training center at the Pantai Bungai Beach and the project to construct facilities at the Subis Civic Center.

The event was also attended by the Subis District Officer, Norlila Ulis, as well as officials from the Kuching Public Works Department headquarters and Miri division, and local leaders.
