(Kuching, 19th) During an official visit to Tokyo, Japan, Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah held an important meeting with Marubeni Corporation.

This meeting follows the memorandum of understanding signed between Marubeni Corporation and Sarawak Investment Company in May this year.

Sarawak Investment Company is a one-stop investment agency under the Ministry of International Trade, Industry, and Investment of Sarawak.

The memorandum of understanding aims to conduct a feasibility study on the production and sale of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) using biomass resources.

In addition to the potential investment in sustainable aviation fuel, Marubeni Corporation also reiterated its commitment to exploring other sustainable development projects in Sarawak.

These include chemical production and renewable energy projects aligned with Sarawak's post-2030 pandemic development strategy, which focuses on achieving economic prosperity, social inclusion, and environmental sustainability.

Awang Tengah, who is also the Minister of International Trade, Industry and Investment of Sarawak and the Second Minister of Natural Resources and Urban Development of Sarawak, welcomed Marubeni Corporation's interest in investing and emphasized the importance of these collaborations in promoting sustainable development in Sarawak.

He also stated that Sarawak is eager to strengthen its partnership with Marubeni Corporation to support Sarawak’s goals for green growth and long-term development.

The meeting highlighted Sarawak's commitment to advancing sustainable development goals while establishing international partnerships that contribute to a cleaner and more prosperous future.
