(Tehran, Apr 4) Iran's Fars News Agency reported Friday (April 3), quoting a well-informed source, that on April 2, the United States, through a friendly country, proposed a 48-hour ceasefire to Iran, to which Iran responded with a fierce attack.
The source said that amid escalating tensions and as US forces found themselves in trouble due to underestimating Iranian military strength, the US made this proposal. After Iran attacked a US military warehouse on Bubiyan Island in northern Kuwait, the US' diplomatic efforts to seek a ceasefire became increasingly urgent.
The report stated that Iran responded to the US proposal by continuing its fierce attacks.
According to The New York Times, the US military on the 3rd confirmed that an American F-15E 'Strike Eagle' fighter jet was shot down by Iran. One pilot was rescued, and US special forces are still working to rescue another pilot who ejected and escaped. Around the same time, another US A-10 'Warthog' attack aircraft crashed in the Persian Gulf region; its sole pilot has been located and rescued.

Three unnamed Iranian officials said the Iranian military is also searching for the missing US pilot from the F-15E. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has sealed off an area in Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad Province in the southwest, believing the US F-15E crashed there.
