Chinese actor Zhu Guanglong portrayed the 'Buddha' in the classic 1987 TV series 'Journey to the West,' widely regarded as the most faithful interpretation of the original novel. In addition to this unforgettable role, he also played 'Gao Chuanbao' in 'Tunnel Warfare' and 'Tong Boda,' the father of Manager Tong in 'My Own Swordsman,' leaving behind numerous deeply memorable performances. On the 3rd, his family issued an obituary, sadly announcing that Zhu Guanglong, after ineffective medical treatment, passed away in Beijing on the 2nd at the age of 86.

Born in 1939, Zhu Guanglong devoted more than 40 years of his life to the fields of stage drama and film and television acting. In the obituary, his family wrote sorrowfully: 'He loved the performing arts, was humble and cautious, approachable, righteous and selfless, optimistic and resilient. Through the roles he shaped and his conduct in daily life, he conveyed positive character and style to all corners of society. His voice and smile, artistic achievements, and noble character will remain forever etched in our hearts.' Liu Xiaolingtong, who played 'Sun Wukong,' also posted a tribute: 'A master of film, television, and stage arts, Mr. Zhu Guanglong, passed away in Beijing on August 2, 2025, at the age of 86 due to illness. The forever ‘Buddha’, endless mourning and remembrance.'
