China's Happy Air Suddenly Halts Flights; Financial Personnel: Company Out of Money

Published at Apr 29, 2025 12:07 pm
On the eve of the 'May Day' holiday, China's airline 'Happy Air,' which has been frequently rumored to owe wages, suddenly announced the cancellation of all flights from April 28 to 30. A senior company official responded, saying, "Flights are temporarily halted for three days, and whether subsequent flights will operate will be discussed in a meeting tomorrow."

The Sing Tao Daily reported that Happy Air's official website issued a notice about the suspension of the 'Proof of Delay for Abnormal Flights' function on its official and mini websites. Earlier, some self-media articles claimed that Happy Air internally issued a document canceling all flights before the 'May Day' holiday. Multiple Chinese media outlets confirmed with employees that this news is true, and some employees were informed not to come to work on the 28th. An employee, Chen Moumou, stated that his department did not receive a flight schedule, and the company did not explain the specific reason. Opening the Happy Air official website, no flight information can be searched, and tickets cannot be purchased.

Reported salary arrears since last June

The Modern Express quoted Happy Air's financial personnel, indicating the reason for the suspension is "the company has no money to fly, and employees' salaries have only been paid up to last June." However, a Happy Air management personnel told the 'Red Star News': "From what I understand, the company will continue to operate, and they are preparing to pay employees' salaries."
