Zixing Pavilion Moral Education Class Opening Ceremony: Children Embark on the Path of Learning

(Miri, 29th) Miri Moral Education Society Zixing Pavilion held its annual Moral Education Class Opening Ceremony on the 25th of this month (Sunday) in the pavilion's main hall. Witnessed by parents, board members, and volunteer teachers, students completed the ceremonies of dressing properly, enlightenment with red cinnabar, drum beating for wisdom, and the "human" character tracing, marking the beginning of their learning journey.

Deputy Pavilion Head Wu Xunhua said in his speech that this traditional ceremony is not only the starting point for learning but also an important milestone in children's lives, symbolizing the awakening of mind and morality in action.

He noted that this year marks the eighth edition of the Zixing Pavilion Moral Education Class. Adhering to the philosophy of "deed first, nurturing people as the foundation," the Moral Education Class is committed to fostering students' comprehensive growth in character, etiquette, sense of responsibility, and compassion through curriculum content, extracurricular activities, and teacher companionship.

He said that the 'beginning of writing' is the child's first formal ceremony, symbolizing the entry into the stage of learning from books and cultivating morality. Today, the children will write their first character in life—'human,' symbolizing integrity, embracing the spirit of "At the beginning of man, nature is inherently good" and taking "filial piety, brotherhood, loyalty, trust, courtesy, righteousness, integrity, and shame" as the foundation of conduct.

He emphasized that the Moral Education Class focuses on inspiring children's benevolence and moral cultivation, guiding them to establish core values such as filial piety, caution and trust, love for all, and closeness to benevolence from childhood through classical cultural texts like the "Standards for Being a Good Student and Child."

"Today, as you pick up a pen to write, you are not just writing characters; you are also writing your ambition and future. I hope you will respect teachers, value learning, cultivate virtues, and grow to be individuals with filial piety towards family, responsibility towards society, and contributions to the nation."

Wu Xunhua thanked the parents for their support and trust and emphasized the importance of family education and companionship. He hopes for a partnership between home and school to create a healthy, positive, and loving environment for children's growth.

He also wished all students to grow healthily under the influence of moral education, hoping the opening ceremony would be the most beautiful page in their lives, where the seeds of virtue take root, sprout, and flourish.
