The US Department of Commerce announced on the 8th that 15 Chinese companies have been added to the export control entity list for assisting Hamas, the Youth Movement, and other Iran-backed armed groups in purchasing US drone electronic components.
According to foreign media citing the US Department of Commerce's release in the Federal Register, 10 of the listed companies were involved in assisting the procurement of certain parts used in combat drones operated by the Yemeni Youth Movement armed group.
As for the other 5 Chinese companies, information in the Federal Register indicates that after the discovery of multiple US-made electronic components in the wreckage of combat drones used by Hamas and other armed groups around October 7, 2023, when Israeli Defense Forces were involved, the US included these Chinese companies in the entity list.
The 15 Chinese entities include Arrow (China) Electronics Trading and Arrow Electronics (Hong Kong) Limited. Both companies are subsidiaries of Arrow Electronics, a Colorado-based electronic components distributor in the United States.
According to a statement from Arrow Electronics’ US headquarters, its subsidiaries have always complied with export-related laws and regulations, and the company is currently communicating with US authorities regarding its inclusion in the entity list.
In addition, another Chinese company was accused of participating in an illegal network, procuring and supplying drones and other related components for shell companies under the IRGC Quds Force, and has been added to the US entity list.
