Hong Kong veteran actor and former 'Jackie Chan Stunt Team' member Tam Wai-Lun was reported on the 27th to have passed away due to kidney failure, at the age of 67. He entered the industry in 1970 and appeared in works such as 'Interpol,' 'The Untold Story of the SWAT,' and 'Police Story.' Although he mostly played supporting roles, he was best known for serving as Jackie Chan’s assistant for 15 years, and the two shared a deep friendship.

After the news broke, Hong Kong actor Ken Lo confirmed Tam Wai-Lun’s death to the media, stating that although he had long known about Tam's poor health and that he had even suffered a stroke, he still felt the passing was sudden. He also said he would help Tam Wai-Lun's family handle the funeral arrangements, hoping his friend would rest in peace.

Tam Wai-Lun and Jackie Chan’s friendship began in 1987, when Jackie Chan helped a car shop through tough times, leading to their acquaintance. As they were similar in age and both loved martial arts, they quickly became good friends. Tam later joined the Jackie Chan Stunt Team, accompanied Jackie Chan in his daily activities, and even served as his bodyguard. In 1989, he once bravely saved Jackie Chan from an explosion, rescuing his life. However, their relationship later soured due to disagreements over pay, and their cooperation ended in 2003. From then, Tam faded from the spotlight, until news of his passing yesterday shocked many.
