The project team handed over a key made of Lego bricks to the operations team, symbolizing that China's first Legoland is officially entering the final sprint phase before opening. According to the announcement, the Shanghai Legoland Resort will undergo an internal stress test from May 31 to June 19, and will open for trial operation from June 20 to July 4, with the official opening on July 5.
Taking 1300 days to complete, this theme park, due to its geographical location neighboring Jiangsu and Zhejiang, is also an important attempt at a large-scale cultural and tourism project in the Yangtze River Delta integration. The Shanghai Legoland Resort is operated by global family entertainment giant Merlin Entertainments Group, located in Fengjing Town, Jinshan District, Shanghai, south of Jinshan North Station and north of Tingfeng Highway, covering an area of 318,000 square meters.
Upon completion, the Shanghai Legoland Resort will consist of the Legoland theme park and one theme resort hotel, featuring eight themed areas including Brick Street, Fun Brick City, and Lego City. It will offer more than 75 interactive rides, shows, and entertainment attractions, as well as thousands of Lego models built using over 85 million Lego bricks. The theme resort hotel will have 250 Lego-themed rooms with five distinct themes.
The Jinshan District of Shanghai has also released visitor flow forecasts for Legoland, predicting that after Legoland opens, the total visitor flow will reach 2.4 million annually by 2025. The daily visitor flow on weekdays is forecasted to be 8,000, and 20,000 on weekends and public holidays.
