(Miri, 23rd) Miri Police Chief ASP Alexson Naga confirmed that Miri Police Headquarters Narcotics Unit arrested a 31-year-old local man involved in drug trafficking at a pavilion in Lutong, Miri during an operation yesterday.
The police found a plastic bag containing 70 grams of methamphetamine with a total value of RM 7,700 during the operation conducted at 2 p.m. on the 21st of this month.
The man was brought to court on the 22nd of this month to apply for remand and was granted a 6-day remand until the 28th.
The police will investigate under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which, if convicted, carries the death penalty, or life imprisonment and whipping not less than 12 strokes.
Miri police also urge the public to report any information related to drug activities to the nearest police station to jointly curb and eliminate such activities.
