Nga Kor Ming: Even if Government Implements Related Measures, All Housing Ministry Projects Will Not Be Delayed

(Kuala Lumpur, 6th) Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming stated that all projects under the Ministry of Housing will not be delayed, even if the government adopts measures to postpone large-scale projects.

He said that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar recently announced that, due to the need to prioritize more urgent basic needs, several major projects have to be postponed. This measure is because the government needs to cope with approximately RM6 billion in additional monthly expenditures affected by the Middle East conflict.

He stated that most of the ministry's projects are people-centric and do not involve large-scale projects costing billions of ringgit.

"So far, I think no project needs to be postponed, because we focus on livelihood projects instead of multibillion-ringgit mega projects."

"Projects currently being planned are also being actively advanced, especially those that directly benefit the people."

He made these remarks at a press conference after officiating the opening ceremony of the newly upgraded Tsing Shan Dao Food Court in Ipoh on Sunday night. Attendees included National Local Government Director Datuk Fazly, Ipoh Mayor Zamri Kamaruzzaman, Kean Hoe Garden state assemblywoman Choy Tze Ern, the minister's political secretary Chew Kim Huan, Jalong state assemblyman Seah Poh Heng, and Ipoh City Councillor Wong Kah Jet.

Nga Kor Ming, who is also the Keranji state assemblyman, pointed out that projects the ministry will continue to advance include the People's Housing Project (PPR), which aims to provide affordable housing.

He continued, taking the planned PPR project in Tambun as an example, which is set to cost about RM150 million, this project is expected to be launched in the near future, with a groundbreaking ceremony planned around June.

"I will request the Ipoh mayor to approve the planning permission as soon as possible."

"We hope this project can become the best People's Housing project, equipped with modern recreational parks and lake facilities, thus setting a benchmark for the quality affordable housing that we emphasize."
