South Korean star Taecyeon and Seohyun's new drama “I Took the Duke’s First Night” is under controversy due to the crew allegedly damaging historical sites during filming. They filmed at Byeongsan Seowon, which has been twice declared a World Heritage Site by South Korea. During the shoot, nails were hammered into the academy to hang lanterns, which led to a report and subsequent prosecution of three crew members. The TV station has announced that all footage shot at Byeongsan Seowon will be deleted.
According to Korean media reports, “I Took the Duke’s First Night” is accused of damaging cultural heritage, drawing controversy. It was discovered that nails were hammered into Byeongsan Seowon, constructed during the Joseon Dynasty and listed as a World Heritage Site, to hang lanterns for filming. This led the city of Andong to sue KBS TV for damaging cultural heritage. They demand the destruction of all images shot at Byeongsan Seowon, with the scriptwriter, director, and executive producer being transferred to the prosecution.
