(Batu, 9th) The proposed Batu District Council is seen as a strategic initiative to strengthen local governance while helping to improve the efficiency and quality of community public services.
According to the Sarawak Public Communications Unit, the proposal was discussed yesterday (April 8) at a special meeting held at the Batu District Office, bringing together administrative officers and major stakeholders to jointly assess the need and suitability for establishing a district council.
The meeting focused on a comprehensive introduction to the background of the Batu district, as well as a detailed discussion of the procedures, requirements, and guidelines for establishing a district council.
Participants also exchanged views on administrative considerations, including suggestions and feedback, to ensure the additional support needed for the smooth implementation of this initiative.
The establishment of the district council is expected to accelerate infrastructure development, improve public facility management, and support more orderly and sustainable regional planning.
During the meeting, participants emphasized the importance of inter-agency coordination, adequate human and financial resources, and active community participation to ensure the success of the proposal.
This discussion marks an important first step in the establishment of the Batu District Council and is in line with broader efforts to promote rural development in the Sri Aman area.
