The astronauts of Shenzhou 20 have successfully entered the space station and met with the astronauts of Shenzhou 19.
According to the China Manned Space Engineering Office, after the manned spacecraft successfully docked with the space station complex, the crew of Shenzhou 20 entered the orbital module from the return capsule.
The Shenzhou 20 crew successfully entered the Chinese space station at 1:17 AM on the 25th, meeting with the Shenzhou 19 crew. This marks the sixth 'space rendezvous' in the history of China's space exploration. Afterwards, the two crews took a group photo.
Subsequently, the two astronaut crews will conduct an in-orbit rotation at the space station. During this period, the six astronauts will work and live together in the space station for about five days, completing various predetermined tasks.
Chen Dong's Third Space Entry
The Shenzhou 20 flight crew consists of Chen Dong, Chen Zhongrui, and Wang Jie, with Chen Dong, who has previously executed the Shenzhou 11 and 14 manned missions, serving as the commander. This is his third time entering space.
Subsequently, the two astronaut crews took a 'family photo,' assuring concerned citizens nationwide of their safety.
During their time at the space station, the Shenzhou 20 crew will conduct multiple experiments and applications in areas such as space life and human body research, microgravity physical science, and new space technologies. They will also perform multiple spacewalks to complete tasks such as installing space station debris protection devices, and installing and retrieving external payloads and platform equipment.
