(Miri, 18th) Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari expressed his congratulations to all branches for successfully holding their conferences and electing good leaders. I thank the leadership of the North Sarawak area for their trust in me, allowing everyone to create more achievements for PBB.

He said that the journey of PBB has not been easy, constantly facing many storms and obstacles. At the same time, the changing times also present many challenges for political parties.

The  Premier made these remarks while speaking at the PBB North Sarawak Representative Conference.

He pointed out that Sarawak had an income of 14.2 billion ringgit last year, so the Sarawak government will be more prudent in using allocations to develop Sarawak.

“Following the opening of the Marudi Bridge, more bridges will be built to develop the Baram area, and at the same time, the road from Miri to Marudi will be upgraded. Once completed, Baram will no longer be far away.”

He noted that road connections will also boost Sarawak's tourism development, especially linking national parks listed as heritage sites. After securing fly-in rights, Sarawak will offer affordable airfare packages, enhancing tourism further.

“With the use of the digital economy, Sarawak products can be promoted globally through the internet, which will also assist local entrepreneurs in increasing their income.”

He also thanked the Prime Minister for recognizing Sarawak Petroleum Company (PETROS) as the sole natural gas aggregator in Sarawak, and the Sarawak government appreciates the roles played by the federal government and Petronas in resolving this issue. This will strengthen cooperation between the federal government, Sarawak government, Petronas, and Sarawak Petroleum Company. This strategic cooperation will propel efforts to make Malaysia, especially Sarawak, an energy hub.

Abang Johari also pointed out that this cooperation will enhance Malaysia's global competitiveness in attracting investment, technology research, and emerging industries, especially petrochemical derivatives, which will benefit the creation of high-paying jobs and national economic growth.

“With economic stability, Sarawak will advance towards the aviation industry, and establishing an aviation academy and providing relevant education is timely to cultivate talent in this field for the future.”

He stated that future PBB members must possess comprehensive knowledge to face different challenges, especially in technology, as only knowledgeable leaders can further ensure the party's sustainable development.

“The transition and renewal of old and new party members are unavoidable, so experienced and knowledgeable future leaders must be cultivated to ensure Sarawak's continuous development.”

At the conference, Preparatory Committee Chairman Datuk Amar Awang Tengah and Deputy Chairman Datuk Seri Stephen Rundi handed over the resolution documents to the Prime Minister.

It is reported that 1,386 members from 18 branches in the North Sarawak area attended the conference.
