Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi held talks with the foreign ministers of the UK, France, and Germany, as well as EU representatives, on the 20th in Geneva, Switzerland. The European side requested that Iran resume negotiations with the United States regarding the Iranian nuclear issue, but Iran reiterated that it would only consider resolving the nuclear issue through diplomatic channels if Israel 'stops its aggression.'
The talks lasted approximately three and a half hours. This was the first face-to-face meeting between Western countries and senior Iranian officials since Israel launched a large-scale airstrike on Iran in the early morning of the 13th.
After the talks, Araghchi told the media that only if Israel stops its aggression against Iran will Iran then consider resolving the nuclear issue through diplomatic means.
He emphasized that Iran's nuclear program has always been peaceful in nature and has consistently remained under the supervision of the International Atomic Energy Agency.
Araghchi expressed concerns that the UK, France, Germany, and the EU failed to condemn Israel's attack on Iran.
He stated that Iran supports continued consultations with the UK, France, Germany, and the EU and is willing to make efforts in the near future to promote peace.
Unconditional End to Israeli Aggression Is the Only Path to Peace
Meanwhile, Iranian President Pezeshkian wrote on social media on the 20th that an unconditional end to Israeli aggression is the only way to achieve peace.
He said that Iran has always pursued peace and stability, but under the current circumstances, lasting peace can only be achieved if Israel stops its hostile actions and provides explicit guarantees to end terrorist provocations.
He warned that if Israel refuses to end its aggression against Iran, Iran's response will grow even stronger.
