Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi said that the assassination attempt on Islamic Revolution leader Khamenei is an unprecedented and dangerous act, stressing that Iran will not hesitate to defend its own security.
According to Iran's Mehr News Agency on the 1st, in an interview with Al Jazeera, Araghchi stated that Iran will act within the framework of its legitimate right to self-defense. He emphasized that Iran has good relations with the Gulf countries and has no intention of attacking its neighbors. He said: "We are not attacking the Gulf countries; our actions are directed at the U.S. military presence stationed in these countries."
Araghchi said that Iran understands the Gulf countries' anger over being attacked, but this war was "imposed on Iran" and is not what Iran wants. He pointed out, "This war was instigated by the United States and Israel, and pressure must be applied on them," and called on neighboring countries to express their dissatisfaction to the United States and Israel.
Government Operating Normally
Araghchi stated that Iranian government institutions are operating normally, legal procedures are underway, and it is very likely that the election of new leaders will be seen in the next few days.
