(Miri, 5th) A boat accident occurred this morning on the Baram River (Sungai Baram), resulting in the drowning of one man and minor injuries to another.
The Lutong Fire and Rescue Department (BBP Lutong) dispatched a rescue team to the scene immediately after receiving a report.
According to the emergency report from the Lutong Fire and Rescue Department, the accident was reported at 11:22 am today, located at Rh. Mekar Kampung Baru Sungai Putat, Kuala Baram.
According to the operation commander's report, the accident involved a boat with two adult men onboard (Yamaha 60HP), which apparently went out of control, causing them to fall into the river. They were on their way upstream of Baram River for fishing.

The rescue team arrived on the scene at 12:15 pm and initiated the rescue operation at 12:16 pm. Villagers had already assisted in rescuing the two from the water and took the injured person to Rh. Mekar for help before the rescue team arrived.
Upon arrival, the rescue team immediately requested assistance from the Ministry of Health (KKM) personnel. Medical personnel confirmed that one of the individuals, 59-year-old Vincent anak Patrick, unfortunately drowned by 12:33 pm. The other injured person, 28-year-old Jeansher anak Bunsu, sustained minor injuries to the left side of his face and hand, suspected to be caused by the boat's propeller.
The injured person was taken to the hospital for further treatment, and the deceased's body was handed over to the police.
