(Jakarta, 1st, Comprehensive News) The Indonesian Air Force has officially received its 8th NC-212i light transport aircraft, produced by the state-owned aerospace manufacturer PT Dirgantara Indonesia (PTDI), marking the eighth delivery under the Ministry of Defense's procurement contract for nine aircraft and further enhancing the military’s transport and combat readiness capability.
This NC-212i transport aircraft, bearing the number A-211, flew directly from the Bandung PTDI facility to Abdul Rachman Saleh Air Force Base in Malang, East Java on July 30th, and has been assigned to the 4th Transport Squadron of the 1st Airlift Wing.
Indonesian Air Force Information Center Director, I. Nyoman Suadnyana, stated this procurement plan is part of the Ministry of Defense’s ongoing defense modernization efforts, aiming to renew equipment and enhance the overall combat capability of the armed forces.
Commander of the 1st Airlift Wing, I. Gusti Putu Setia Dharma, pointed out that with the addition of the new transport aircraft into service, the unit’s operational capabilities will be further strengthened in response to the increasingly complex and diverse mission requirements.
The NC-212i is locally assembled and produced in Indonesia and can carry out multiple missions, including troop transportation, cloud seeding operations, and aerial photography surveying.
This aircraft is equipped with the Honeywell TPE331 turboprop engine and fitted with the EASA-certified MTV-27 propeller, effectively reducing noise and vibration while enhancing single-engine stability during high-altitude flight.
PTDI Production Director Dena Hendriana stated that this delivery once again demonstrates the company’s commitment to supporting national defense development and meeting military equipment needs.
This transport aircraft completed its flight acceptance on July 9, 2026, and was subsequently delivered by Lieutenant Colonel Andika Adiyagana serving as the pilot.
According to the plan, the ninth and final NC-212i transport aircraft under this Ministry of Defense procurement will be delivered in October 2027.
