(Kuching, 22nd) The inaugural Borneo International Halal Showcase (BIHAS) 2026 will transform Sarawak and Borneo into an Asian, and even globally recognized, hub for the halal industry through trade, investment, innovation, and sustainable growth.
Sarawak Deputy Premier and Second Minister for Natural Resources and Urban Development, Datuk Amar Awang Tengah, stated that BIHAS 2026 is a flagship program of the Ministry of International Trade, Industry and Investment (MINTRED), organized with the support of Business Events Sarawak (BESarawak).
The event will take place from July 21 to 23, 2026, with the international exhibition to be held at the Kuching Waterfront Square and conferences at The Waterfront Hotel.
At a press conference held Thursday (May 21) at the Sarawak Government Office, he noted, “BIHAS 2026 is more than just an exhibition—it is a strategic platform for a halal ecosystem covering food and beverage, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics and beauty, logistics, tourism, Islamic finance, ESG, technology, and digital economy solutions.”

He said the exhibition aims to strengthen halal trade and investment networks, expand market access for SMEs and halal entrepreneurs, promote innovation and ESG-driven halal solutions, enhance talent and capacity development, and foster regional and international cooperation.
He pointed out that BIHAS 2026 will revolve around six strategic pillars: halal trade and investment; capacity building and talent development; innovation, R&D, and digitalization; sustainability and ESG alignment; inclusivity and halal entrepreneurship; and policy, governance, and infrastructure.
Event highlights include the Halal Conference, business matching activities, a pitching platform for young entrepreneurs, a halal food festival and demonstrations, ESG and halal tech showcases, as well as a halal product consumer exhibition.

Awang Tengah said that BIHAS 2026 is expected to bring together renowned speakers, policymakers, industry leaders, and experts in the halal field from Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Brazil, Japan, and Sri Lanka.
The conference aims to attract 20 international buyers and investors, facilitate 50 business matchings, feature 100 exhibitors, and draw 400 conference delegates.
He said, “We are encouraged by the strong support from sponsors, exhibitors, strategic partners, and industry stakeholders. We welcome enthusiastic participation from enterprises and organizations in Sarawak, Sabah, Brunei, Kalimantan, ASEAN, and across the globe.”
He also urged industry professionals, investors, entrepreneurs, exhibitors, sponsors, and the public to actively participate in BIHAS 2026.
“Through this initiative, we hope to create more trade and investment opportunities, strengthen export potential, and enhance Sarawak and Borneo’s international visibility as a future-oriented halal hub for Asia and the world,” he said.
