(Bandar Seri Begawan, 25th) The Royal Brunei Police Force and the Customs Department carried out a joint operation based on intelligence, uncovering illegal cigarette sales activities at a residential house in the Beruang Tudur Settlement, Tutong District.
Around 9pm that night, an enforcement team formed by the Tutong Police Station and the Customs Department conducted a surprise inspection of the residence and discovered a large amount of contraband in the living room. The police seized a total of 54 packs of various types of cigarettes and arrested a 41-year-old local man at the scene, suspected of illegal possession and sale of cigarettes.
The Customs Department has confiscated all contraband items, and the suspect has been handed over to the Enforcement Division of the Royal Customs Department in Kuala Belait for further investigation and action.
The Customs Department emphasized it will continue to closely cooperate with other law enforcement agencies and is determined to combat smuggling and the sale of contraband in the country.
