Foreign ministers from Southeast Asia have gradually arrived in Langkawi to attend the ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Informal Meeting, which will take place on Saturday.
Malaysian Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan is expected to arrive on Friday afternoon, followed by other foreign ministers.
Philippine Foreign Minister Manalo arrived on Thursday.
This informal meeting will be held at the Langkawi International Convention Center and marks Malaysia's first major event as the ASEAN Chair for 2025, kicking off a busy and meaningful year ahead.
The two-day ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Informal Meeting will be attended by the foreign ministers and their representatives from the 10 ASEAN member countries.
Timor-Leste's Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Freitas, will attend the meeting as an observer.
The ministers are expected to exchange views on ASEAN's external relations, as well as regional and international issues of common concern.
On Friday, all the leaders of the ASEAN and Timor-Leste Senior Officials Meeting (SOM) will attend a welcome dinner hosted by Datuk Seri Amran, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and leader of the ASEAN SOM.
The ASEAN Senior Officials Meeting on Saturday will gather leaders and representatives from all ASEAN member countries and the ASEAN Secretariat to discuss a wide range of topics.
On Friday morning, the International Media Center Coordinator Zanzari held a media briefing to highlight the facilities and related services available for journalists, photographers, and videographers during the ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Informal Meeting.
Additionally, Amran will hold a press conference on Friday afternoon to introduce the upcoming Senior Officials Meeting.
It is expected that over 200 representatives from the 10 ASEAN member countries and Timor-Leste as an observer nation will attend this informal meeting.
