(Miri, 10th) Continuous rainfall recently led to floods in some areas of Miri, severely affecting many low-income families. As a response, Miri MP Chiew Choon Man has launched the "Flood Relief Application Guide and Food Pack Distribution Plan" to assist victims in correctly filling out aid application forms and provide basic living supplies to relieve their economic pressure.
Chiew Choon Man stated that the government-provided Disaster Relief Fund (Bantuan Wang Ihsan) aims to help affected families through tough times, but some victims encounter difficulties in filling out the application forms. Therefore, he has arranged for a team to offer technical assistance in rural areas, ensuring that eligible victims can apply smoothly and receive aid funds promptly.
"To facilitate the disaster victims, we will set up mobile service counters in severely affected areas for two weeks to assist with form filling on-site and answer related questions. We hope this measure can speed up the application process so that victims can receive financial aid at the earliest."

Besides the relief application guide, Chiew Choon Man's team also distributes food packs to help affected families through tough times. He mentioned that although the supplies are limited, he hopes they can bring some warmth to the victims and reduce their living burdens.
"Disasters are heartless, but there's love in the world. We will continue to strive to provide more assistance to families in need."
Chiew Choon Man calls on government agencies, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and all sectors of society to join hands in providing more help to the affected people.
"Facing disasters, we must unite and work together to help victims rebuild their homes and restore normal life as soon as possible."
Finally, he thanked all the volunteers and staff involved in the relief action and promised to continue promoting more welfare plans to ensure every affected resident receives the aid they deserve.
