Wang Mian, the 41-year-old Chinese actress who left a deep impression on audiences with works such as “Ruyi’s Royal Love in the Palace” and “Four Generations Under One Roof,” has finally welcomed a baby boy after 5 years and 9 months of arduous attempts to have a child. In order to become a mother, she not only spent 500,000 RMB (around 285,000 MYR) on IVF treatment and endured over 200 injections, but also faced setbacks like miscarriage and surgery for cervical cancer. On the day of delivery, she suffered a massive hemorrhage due to the baby's large size, which made her husband Liu Xiaolei feel distressed and exclaim: “I regret our decision to have a child at an older age.”
Wang Mian’s journey to have a child can be described as a textbook example of hardship. To conceive, the couple invested more than 500,000 RMB, and during this time, Wang Mian had to undergo surgeries for carcinoma in situ of the cervix and an ovarian chocolate cyst due to gynecological issues. After three failed attempts at embryo transfer and more than 200 ovulation-stimulation injections, she finally saw a glimmer of hope in April 2025. However, tragedy struck at 10 weeks pregnant, when fetal development stopped, as there was no heartbeat due to a chromosomal abnormality, and she had to painfully terminate the pregnancy with medication.
She wrote emotionally on social media: “It’s done! This is the bravest day of my life. The efforts of 5 years and 9 months did not come easily. At this moment, my dream has finally come true.” Recalling the moment in the delivery room, Wang Mian’s voice was still full of excitement: “When I heard my baby’s very first cry, I couldn’t help but shed tears.”
