Less than 48 Hours into Ceasefire, Thailand Accuses Cambodia of Sending Drones Across Border; Cambodia Denies

On the evening of the 29th, Cambodian Ministry of National Defense spokesperson Marie Souchheata denied Thailand's statement that 'more than 250 drones took off from Cambodia, violating Thailand's sovereign territory.'

In a press release, she stated that the Cambodian Ministry of National Defense completely denies this claim.

She said: 'Furthermore, the Ministry of National Defense and the provincial governments, especially those in border areas, have issued strict instructions prohibiting the takeoff of all types of drones. We confirm that there has been no occurrence of any such drone takeoff incidents.'

She pointed out that the Cambodian government and military reaffirm their unwavering commitment to implementing the joint declaration of the Cambodia-Thailand Border General Committee issued on the 27th of this month, the Peace Joint Statement signed between Cambodia and Thailand on October 26, as well as other relevant agreements. These efforts aim to ensure that people living in border areas between the two countries can resume normal life as soon as possible and regain peace, stability, and security.

The third meeting of the Cambodia-Thailand Border General Committee was recently held at a border crossing in Chanthaburi Province, Thailand, where a joint statement was issued pledging that both sides would implement a ceasefire starting from noon on the 27th local time.

On the 29th, Thailand accused Cambodia of sending more than 250 drones over its airspace, violating the ceasefire agreement reached by the two countries.

Thailand alleged that, with the ceasefire agreement not even 48 hours old, drones 'from the Cambodian side' entered Thai airspace late on the night of the 28th. 'Such actions constitute provocation and violate measures intended to ease tensions.'
