(Bangkok, 29th) The Thai Navy stated that the placement of containers and the strengthening of defensive barriers at the Cambodian border are necessary measures in response to provocations and the removal of original defensive facilities by 'malicious individuals.'
Thai Navy spokesperson Paraj Ratanajaipan pointed out that this action is in line with the arrangements set out in the Thailand-Cambodia joint statement of December 2025. Both sides had agreed to maintain the current troop deployment line and not to move it arbitrarily. Thailand emphasized that this action is a self-defense measure, aimed at maintaining peace at the border and preventing escalation of tensions, and is not an infringement of Cambodia’s sovereignty.
Paraj stated that recently, the Cambodian side led a group of international diplomats and representatives of international organizations to visit the Thai-Cambodian border area. After related news reports and images were circulated by some media outlets, it was misreported that Thailand’s container placement violated Cambodia’s sovereignty.
