Bangkok Residents Take to the Streets Demanding Prime Minister Paetongtarn Resign

(Thailand, 29th) Thousands of Thai citizens gathered in the capital, Bangkok, on the 28th, demanding Prime Minister Paetongtarn's resignation.
About 4,000 people gathered on the roads around the capital's Victory Monument, waving Thai national flags and participating in the protest organized by the 'Land United Force.'
This rally is the largest anti-government protest faced by the Pheu Thai Party since coming to power in 2023. The 'Land United Force' is an alliance mainly composed of nationalist activists who have opposed other governments supported by the Thaksin family for the past 20 years.
Although many past protests did not directly lead to the downfall of the government, the energy accumulated by these demonstrations eventually resulted in judicial intervention and military coups in 2006 and 2014.
Prime Minister Paetongtarn pointed out on the same day that authorities have been instructed to ensure the protests proceed peacefully.
She said: "This is the people's right, I will not oppose it."
