He suggested waiting until morning to proactively contact a lawyer for accompaniment. He also added, 'If you're coming back from abroad, you can be arrested at customs.' He advised entering the country in the late afternoon or at night to avoid being detained for an extra day due to police saying 'we don’t have time to interrogate today.' He empathized, saying, 'The later you arrive, the shorter the night; you won’t be locked up for nothing.'
As for which day is the safest for giving a statement? With a hint of mockery, Namewee said, 'Best to go on Monday!' He explained that if you go on a Friday or Thursday and the police ask to detain you for 3 or 4 days, Saturday and Sunday don’t count, which means you'd be stuck the whole week. If you handle it on a Monday, you’ll be able to go home by Thursday at the latest.
