Previously Filmed Video Teaching Viewers 'What To Do When Arrested By Police'

Namewee is now implicated in the Taiwanese influencer Hsieh Youxin’s murder case, and Malaysian police have officially reclassified the case as a homicide investigation. Ironically, Namewee previously made a video instructing viewers on 'precautions to take when arrested by police', and the video's content has once again resurfaced and sparked discussion among netizens.

In that video, Namewee advised the public that if the police notify you to give a statement, make sure to arrange it during the daytime. Do not trust statements like 'it’ll only take a while,' or you might end up being detained for several days. Namewee warned, 'If you get brought in and can’t finish your statement, you could be detained for a day, two days, three days, with endless questioning.' He also stressed that if the police knock on your door late at night without a search warrant, absolutely do not open the door—'Just pretend you're sleeping.'

Namewee went on to explain that the police come to your door at night 'because you won’t be able to reach your lawyer since the lawyer is sleeping.' He suggested waiting until morning to proactively contact a lawyer for accompaniment. He also added, 'If you're coming back from abroad, you can be arrested at customs.' He advised entering the country in the late afternoon or at night to avoid being detained for an extra day due to police saying 'we don’t have time to interrogate today.' He empathized, saying, 'The later you arrive, the shorter the night; you won’t be locked up for nothing.'

As for which day is the safest for giving a statement? With a hint of mockery, Namewee said, 'Best to go on Monday!' He explained that if you go on a Friday or Thursday and the police ask to detain you for 3 or 4 days, Saturday and Sunday don’t count, which means you'd be stuck the whole week. If you handle it on a Monday, you’ll be able to go home by Thursday at the latest. Now that Namewee has turned himself in, this self-recorded 'anti-police strategy' video has been dug up by netizens gleefully mocking that he 'prophetically predicted his own fate.'
