The leaders of the United Kingdom, France, and Germany issued a joint statement on the evening of the 1st, stating that they may take “necessary and proportionate defensive actions” against Iran in order to destroy its capability to launch missiles and drones.
The statement said that the three countries have agreed to cooperate on this with the United States and their allies in the attacked region, and will take “necessary measures” to defend the interests of their own nations and their allies.
In addition, British Prime Minister Starmer said in a statement on the evening of the 1st that the UK has agreed to allow the United States to use UK military bases for “specific and limited” defensive purposes. He stated that countries in the Gulf region have requested the UK to increase defensive efforts, and the UK has deployed fighter jets to carry out missions in the region, successfully intercepting Iranian attacks, but that in order to eliminate the threat completely it is necessary to “destroy missile stockpiles or launch devices at the source.”
Starmer also said that the UK has not participated in any strikes against Iran.
