Robotic elderly care becomes a reality in Beijing? Recently, a smart elderly care robot station, integrating over 40 types of intelligent robots, officially started operation in Beijing. This elderly care station features three core areas: basic services, robot applications, and age-friendly retrofitting, realizing in-depth integration of “technology + elderly care.”

According to Beijing Youth Daily, this smart elderly care robot station is located in Ronghua Subdistrict, Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area, covering an area of about 1,100 square meters. The station currently deploys 43 products from 23 robotics companies.

Among them, the kitchen area achieves full-process intelligent dining services; massage and moxibustion robots offer professional therapy in the health and wellness area; exoskeleton robots assist in scientific rehabilitation training; and chess-playing and tea-brewing robots make wellness time fun for the elderly.

According to Beijing Youth Daily, 72-year-old community resident Aunt Zhang gave her thumbs up while experiencing the technology: “I used to feel that robots were far away from us. Today, after trying the moxibustion robot, I feel so much lighter. This smart checkout counter also has clear voice prompts—very convenient for us seniors!”

Additionally, after experiencing the age-friendly sample room, resident Uncle Wang remarked emotionally: “The smart monitoring devices make us seniors feel much safer living at home. This is truly technology warming people’s hearts.”

It is reported that the station has also set up an elderly-friendly demo area, displaying multiple age-adaptive devices, such as smart wheelchairs, companion robots, and more. There’s even a robot dog obstacle course, allowing seniors to get close to emerging technology.

Zhang Li, head of the Livelihood Security Office of Ronghua Subdistrict in the Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area, said that the elderly care station will solicit suggestions and feedback from seniors, relay them to businesses, and promote the iterative upgrade of robots to ensure the scenes can operate well long-term.

Looking to the future, Beijing Yizhuang will use this station as a pilot, create more application scenarios for tech-based elderly care, and continue to promote deep application of robotic technology in the field of elderly care.
