Wan Azizah Visits JPMC, Brunei-Malaysia Deepen Medical Cooperation and Exchange

(Bandar Seri Begawan, 22nd) Jerudong Park Medical Centre (JPMC) warmly welcomed the Malaysian Prime Minister’s wife, Datuk Seri Wan Azizah, on a courtesy visit. Both parties exchanged views on topics such as specialist medical services, rehabilitation therapy, and the application of innovative technology in patient care, further strengthening the long-standing healthcare ties and cooperation between Brunei and Malaysia.

Brunei's Minister of Health and JPMC Executive Director Datuk Isham, Deputy Minister of Finance and JPMC Vice Chairperson Cty Sofina warmly welcomed Wan Azizah. Health Ministry Permanent Secretary Adi Ihraam, JPMC board members, senior management, and officials were also present.

During the visit, JPMC Medical Group introduced its professional medical services and capabilities, with a special focus on rehabilitation treatment and technology-enabled care approaches.

JPMC Medical Group Chief Financial Officer Voon Pei Ling conducted the company presentation, elaborating on JPMC Medical Group’s role within the Brunei healthcare system, as well as the range of specialist services currently offered. Subsequently, Wan Azizah also engaged in discussions with representatives from JPMC Medical Group and the Ministry of Health.

The tour focused on JPMC’s specialist medical services, especially rehabilitation facilities and the application of technology in patient care.

The itinerary included the Rehabilitation Garden, hydrotherapy pool, rehabilitation wards, and the robotic-assisted therapy center, allowing visitors to further understand JPMC’s capabilities in supporting patient rehabilitation, recovery, and enhancing treatment outcomes.

During the event, a commemorative certificate signing ceremony was also held, and a souvenir was presented to Wan Azizah to mark her visit to JPMC, underscoring the importance of ongoing cooperation in the healthcare sector between Brunei and Malaysia.

JPMC stated that this courtesy visit highlights the significance of continued medical cooperation and professional exchanges between Brunei and Malaysia, especially in the fields of specialist medicine, rehabilitation, and medical innovation, further reinforcing both sides’ commitment to enhancing regional healthcare cooperation and advancing high-quality, patient-centered medical services.
