A bizarre incident recently occurred in Udon Thani, Thailand. A 23-year-old woman, after taking a motorcycle taxi, was unable to pay the 40 baht (about RM5.20) fare and surprisingly proposed to 'repay with her body,' frightening the driver who immediately refused and called the police.
According to the Bangkok Post, the incident took place outside a local rental apartment. Upon arrival, the woman claimed she had no money and proactively invited the driver inside to 'have relations' as compensation for the fare. The driver refused and called the police.
Before the police arrived, a 29-year-old man suddenly appeared from inside the apartment and paid the woman’s fare via online banking. He said in an interview that he had often seen this woman around the community over the past month, and had even witnessed her catching rides in the same manner and getting other residents to pay her fare, after which she would enter different residents' rooms.
The man emphasized that he was not familiar with the woman, and had only paid because he felt sorry for her. He revealed that the woman had previously barged into his home, which put him in a difficult position, especially since his wife is currently pregnant, and he worried it could cause misunderstandings.
Police later located the woman, who stated she was single and meant no harm, and simply wanted someone to talk to. The police then escorted her home and met her 72-year-old grandmother.
The grandmother told police that the woman has a history of drug use, her mental state is unstable, and she often goes out late at night taking rides without paying, which has become a major headache. She requested that the authorities help send her granddaughter for medical treatment.
