American extreme climber Alex Honnold was originally scheduled to attempt a free solo climb of Taipei 101 at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday (January 24), but due to bad weather, the event was postponed by a day. Many fans showed up again near Taipei 101 early on Sunday (25th) in hopes of witnessing Honnold's feat. His close friend, Oscar-winning actress Charlize Theron, also cheered him on Saturday.
According to Cti News, on Sunday, Honnold took on the challenge of climbing Taipei 101 bare-handed, without any safety equipment. An hour before the climb began, many people were already on the scene waiting around Taipei 101.
Around 8:30 in the morning, Honnold appeared wearing a red T-shirt, and fans at the scene held support signs to cheer him on, applauding loudly.
