PhD Shares Dream-Chasing Journey: Perseverance and Effort Achieve a Fulfilling Life

(S City, 16th) Brunei writer Zhu Yunli recently conversed with Dr. Zhang Minjun, who slowly recounted the journey she has taken in life. She was born in Indonesia, later went to Malaysia to study, and there, step by step, completed her professional training and life ambitions. She is now a Malaysian citizen.

“Dreams are not something you wait for—they are built step by step through effort.” This was the most striking quote from Dr. Zhang Minjun during the interview.

She admitted that she did not have particularly privileged conditions while growing up. Every stage—studying, working, and caring for her family—came with its own pressures, and she also endured doubts from others and real-life hardships. She never imagined that one day she would receive a PhD in Medical Aesthetics Science from an international university, let alone that she would step into the fields of pelvic balance, spinal adjustment, and body structural conditioning, with the chance to collaborate and engage with governmental departments in Malaysia and Saudi Arabia.

But she never gave up. Because she believes that as long as your direction is correct and you are willing to continuously learn and work hard, even the most distant dreams can eventually be reached.

Now, as a mother of a daughter, Dr. Zhang Minjun is even more concerned about the health issues of people from different walks of life. Over the years, she has devoted herself to research and treatment in pelvic balance, spinal adjustment, obesity, and structural body imbalance, hoping to help more people regain their health and confidence.

In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Zhang Minjun has also conducted exchanges and cooperation with government departments in Malaysia and Saudi Arabia, sharing ideas about pelvic balance, body structure adjustment, and health education.
She hopes that more people can understand that physical problems do not necessarily have to be addressed only with medication; some issues can actually be managed by adjusting the body’s structure to help the body restore its balance.
She also earnestly encourages young people not to easily deny themselves due to their background, environment, or current situation.
“I have never been the luckiest person, but I am willing to work harder than others.”
She said, “What matters most in life is not where you stand now, but whether you are willing to keep moving forward.”

She believes that pursuing excellence and realizing one's dreams is never the privilege of a select few. Even if one's starting point is ordinary and the road is full of setbacks and difficulties, as long as you are willing to persevere, to learn, and to keep working hard, your dreams will slowly come closer.
