According to earlier foreign media reports, Kristin's husband Andrew is the sixth-generation heir to a private rum distillery. It was previously claimed Andrew was on a business trip to Japan at the time and only found out about the incident upon his return, but that he and Kristin had been separated before the incident and filed for divorce in mid-August.
However, according to an American “People” magazine report, a source speaking up for Kristin clarified that she attended the concert with friends, not for a work event, and that Andrew was also at the same concert with another woman that night.
The source claimed: “Kristin and Andy only had a good working relationship and friendship, with no extramarital affair, but it was inappropriate for her to hug her boss at the concert. She takes full responsibility for that, but the public criticism, unemployment, and significant damage to her reputation are unfair.” The source also noted that the incident wrongly labeled Kristin as a “homewrecker” and that she received about 900 death threats within three days. She was also mocked and secretly photographed by strangers while picking up her son, “This has not only devastated her personally, but has had a huge impact on the entire family. The way the public treats this as a laughing matter is truly unbearable.”
Andy and Kristin have not yet responded to these claims.
