At the start of the event, kindergarten and grade 1 to 3 students made lanterns by hand in their classrooms, while upper primary students carefully prepared riddles, showcasing their love and creativity for traditional culture. Next, Board Member Mrs. Shen Xianzhu gave a live demonstration of making snow skin mooncakes, while thoroughly explaining Mid-Autumn customs. Students observed and tasted the mooncakes in batches, deepening their understanding of the traditional festival through interaction. Afterwards, a series of intangible cultural heritage experiences unfolded. The “Hairpin Flower Experience,” introduced in Brunei for the first time, attracted many enthusiastic participants, who wore traditional hairpin flowers and took memorable photos at the designated site. The “pitch-pot” game and riddle guessing rounds were filled with laughter, allowing students to appreciate the elegance and wisdom of ancient entertainment.
Next came the highly anticipated cultural performances, co-hosted by Grade 5’s Hadien and Grade 3’s Fang Xuehui. Accompanied by solemn renditions of the national and school anthems, Board Chairman Yang Wencheng and Principal Tao Meihua delivered speeches highlighting the importance of passing on Chinese culture, expressing hopes for the students’ growth, and thanking teachers for their hard work. Afterwards, kindergarten classes 1 to 3 recited “Ode to the Goose,” and first graders performed “Spring Dawn,” their tender voices earning rapturous applause. The second grade delivered the beauty of etiquette through “Good Friends, Be Polite,” and the third grade ignited the audience’s enthusiasm with riddle interactions. Grade four presented a rhythmic recitation of “Basking in the Sun” and the song “Small Happiness.” Grade five’s Chen Yuxiang performed a solo “Brightness,” while Eidola sang “By the Butterfly Spring,” all showcasing the students’ varied talents. The event climaxed with the melodious song “May We All Be Blessed with Longevity,” as the whole audience lit lanterns and sang together, symbolizing reunion and best wishes.
After the performances, board members and the principal distributed mooncakes to the students and took group photos. This Mid-Autumn event not only deepened students’ understanding of traditional culture but also united the campus community in a joyful atmosphere, writing a moving new chapter of cultural brilliance.
