(Bandar Seri Begawan, 13th) The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf® Barista Championship finals were held yesterday at Times Square Shopping Centre.
The guest of honor and Vice Chairman Pengiran Abdul Muning attended the event.
The five finalists prepared three drinks for the live audience within a set time: espresso, cappuccino, and their own signature beverage.
The judges evaluated the contestants based on technique, taste, presentation, and creativity.
Ridwan Pramana Putra emerged as the champion and will represent Brunei at the competition in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in May 2026.
The event commenced with an opening speech by Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf® General Manager Art Terrado. Training Manager Noriza Omar gave a brief introduction.
The five finalists were: Mohd Syukri bin Mohd Rosli, Muhammad Arif Danial bin Agus, Muhammad Taufiq Hidayat bin Kepli, Ridwan Pramana Putra, and Nuur Izzah Alilah binti Abdullah, each representing different outlets.
Training Manager Noriza Omar said, “The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf® Barista Competition is not only a celebration of our baristas, but also a showcase of their creativity and skills. This contest encourages them to go beyond the basics, boldly experiment, and express themselves through their signature beverages, thus leading the next wave of coffee innovation.”
At the previous competition, a Bruneian barista won the “Best Signature Beverage” title among ten Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf® baristas from eight different countries.
This year, the finals will once again be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in May 2026, where participants will have the chance to win up to USD 2,000 in prizes.
Ridwan Pramana Putra won the 2026 The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf® Brunei Grand Finals championship, and received a crystal trophy, 800 dollars in cash, and prizes sponsored by Koi Company and Syarikat Andong.
Ridwan Pramana Putra will represent Brunei in the international competition and have the opportunity to compete with contestants from other countries and regions.
