(Miri, 13th) Deputy Minister of Sarawak Women, Children, and Community Well-being, Dato' Rosey Yunus, stated that this year there are a total of 4,546 people receiving social welfare assistance monthly in Miri, with 738 people celebrating Hari Raya, and in Bekenu, 270 Muslims celebrated this festival.
Dato' Rosey Yunus, speaking at the Hari Raya Aid Money Distribution event held by the Miri Social Welfare Department, mentioned that today a total of 100 individuals received assistance, each receiving a cash donation of RM100. Additionally, another 170 individuals who could not attend will have the RM100 donation deposited into their respective accounts.
She pointed out that during January to February 2025, the Miri Social Welfare Department has distributed RM4,287,150 in aid. The aid includes allowances for the elderly (1,775 people), children's aid (584 people), general aid (527 people), disability work allowance (331 people), aid for disabled or severely ill individuals (223 people), allowances for individuals unable to work due to disability (1,102 people), foster child allowance (3 people), and youth aid (1 person).
She noted that in the first two months of this year, a total of 1,004 people in Subis and Bekenu received aid, with a total amount of RM921,600.
She expressed that the purpose of this event is to strengthen the relationship between the community and government departments while demonstrating the Sarawak government's concern for the less capable and unfortunate, thereby promoting and enhancing local community welfare for them.
