【Two Sessions】Chinese Ambassador to the US: Peace Has Never Fallen From the Sky

Published at Mar 06, 2026 11:27 am
On the afternoon of the 5th in Beijing, Xie Feng, member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and Chinese Ambassador to the United States, used the phrase “Waves surge across the seas and waters roar, thunder and wind shake the five continents” to describe the current international situation in a media interview. He stated that peace “has never fallen from the sky.”

He expressed hope that Chinese compatriots who are still in dangerous places can return home as soon as possible, and also hoped that “peace will ultimately triumph over gunfire.”

When talking about China-US relations, Xie Feng said that history has repeatedly proven that both China and the US benefit from cooperation and are both harmed by confrontation. China has its own principles and bottom lines that must be upheld. “We will continue to firmly defend our sovereignty, security, and development interests.”

Xie Feng said he hopes the US side will work together with China to implement the important consensuses reached by the two heads of state with concrete actions, and, based on mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and win-win cooperation as advocated by Chinese President Xi Jinping, promote the stable, healthy, and sustainable development of China-US relations. “This will not only benefit the peoples of both countries, but will also greatly promote peace, stability, and development in the world.”

“Overall, the road is tortuous, but the future is bright,” Xie Feng said.
