Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, during his meeting with Tajikistan's Foreign Minister Mukhriddin, expressed his gratitude to Tajikistan for its steadfast support on issues concerning China's core interests such as Taiwan, and firmly stated that China will never allow Japanese right-wing forces to turn back the wheel of history, never allow external forces to meddle in Taiwan, and never allow the resurgence of Japanese militarism.

According to Xinhua News Agency, on Saturday (November 22), Wang Yi held the first strategic dialogue with Mukhriddin in Dushanbe. The two sides discussed the implementation of consensus reached by their heads of state and deepening mutually beneficial cooperation, jointly launching the foreign ministers' strategic dialogue mechanism between the two countries.

Wang Yi stated that China and Tajikistan are close friends and good partners linked by shared mountains and rivers. The two heads of state have met twice this year, making new arrangements for the development of bilateral relations. China is willing to work with Tajikistan to follow the consensus of their leaders, look at and develop bilateral relations from a strategic height, continue the friendship for generations, jointly build the “Belt and Road” with high quality, and promote new progress in the China-Tajikistan comprehensive strategic partnership in the new era.

Wang Yi said that in the face of a volatile and intertwined international situation, it is timely for both sides to launch the strategic dialogue mechanism, which is conducive to strengthening strategic communication, consolidating strategic mutual trust, jointly responding to new challenges and risks, maintaining international and regional peace and stability, and providing new impetus for building a closer China-Tajikistan community of shared future.

He made five proposals: First, to firmly support each other; second, to promote mutually beneficial cooperation; third, to deepen cultural and people-to-people exchanges; fourth, to strengthen security cooperation; and fifth, to enhance multilateral coordination.
When talking about firm mutual support, Wang Yi said that China will, as always, support Tajikistan in pursuing a development path suitable to its own national conditions and support Tajikistan in the measures it adopts to safeguard national security and development, and oppose external forces interfering in Tajikistan’s internal affairs under any pretext.

Wang Yi further stated that regardless of how the international situation changes, China will always be a trustworthy and reliable partner for Tajikistan. He expressed gratitude to Tajikistan for its firm support on core issues such as Taiwan. “China will never allow Japanese right-wing forces to turn back the wheel of history, never allow external forces to meddle in China’s Taiwan region, and never allow Japanese militarism to resurge,” Wang Yi said. China will work with all parties to uphold the international consensus on the one-China principle and jointly safeguard the outcomes of World War II.

Earlier this month, Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi raised the issue of “Taiwan contingency” in parliament, which triggered a response from Chinese Consul General in Osaka, Xue Jian, who countered with “decapitation theory.” Since then, tension between China and Japan has continued to rise, with China continuing to put pressure on Japan through various channels.

According to reports, the two sides also exchanged views on the Afghan issue. Wang Yi stated that Afghanistan is a common neighbor of China and Tajikistan that cannot be moved away, and that China, with a focus on regional peace and stability, is willing to continue strengthening cooperation with Tajikistan on the Afghan issue and support Afghanistan's reconstruction and development.
