Abang Johari Urges Leveraging Strengths; Enterprises Must Innovate to Meet Challenges

(Kuching, 28th) In today’s world, entrepreneurs need to boldly delve into analytical innovation and assess their own strengths from a strategic perspective in order to respond to increasingly fierce economic challenges.
Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg stated that entrepreneurs must take relevant measures to enhance the value of their products, including the use of modern technology, thereby paving their way to success.
“Innovation is a crucial undertaking, but it also requires in-depth analysis of the current situation and the future economic landscape. After that, we need to assess our strengths so we can compete with our competitors, take these strengths into consideration, and increase value in various ways—including by adopting technologies that align with future demand.”
He made these remarks last night at the Sarawak Bumiputera Entrepreneur Awards (AUBS) 2025 ceremony.
Regarding this, he revealed that he has suggested to Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation (SDEC) Chairman Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Morshidi to invite James Barrat, author of 'Our Final Invention: Artificial Intelligence and the End of the Human Era,' to participate in the Sarawak International Digital Economy Conference (IDECS) 2025, to be held from October 22 to 23, to discuss the pros and cons of artificial intelligence (AI) for the economy.
He noted that this is crucial for Sarawak entrepreneurs to determine their direction amid an uncertain economic outlook.
“In the future, our economic climate will become very complex, so you will need strong rationality and analytical ability to identify business direction. Therefore, I have asked SDEC to invite James Barrat to share about the latest technologies, including AI, and perhaps the Sarawak Bumiputera Entrepreneurs Chamber (DUBS) can participate in this conference to grasp future directions.”
Abang Johari stressed that if entrepreneurs understand the direction of their business development, they will be able to adjust using their own strengths.
At the same event, he was also invited to present the Sarawak Bumiputera Entrepreneur Awards to 16 winners from different award categories.
Those in attendance included Sarawak Bumiputera Entrepreneurs Chamber Chairman Datuk Abang Helmi, Sarawak Business Federation (SBF) Chairman Datuk Seri Abang Abdul Karim, Sarawak Ministry of International Trade, Industry and Investment Permanent Secretary Zulkanain, and Sarawak Bumiputera Entrepreneurs Women’s Wing Chairwoman and Executive Council Member Juita.
