(Kuching, 21st) The Sarawak government is considering the proposal to extend the Sarawak Legislative Assembly session to give members more time to discuss important matters.

Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari, the Premier of Sarawak, stated that this request was made by Machan constituency legislator Allan Gramong, who emphasized the need for more in-depth discussions on major issues.

“Last year, we received requests for additional allowances. But this time, we are looking into the possibility of extending the Sarawak Assembly session. I will assign this matter to be studied by the Sarawak Legislative Assembly Speaker, Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia.”

Premier Abang Johari made these remarks during the Sarawak Party Alliance backbenchers' night banquet last night.

Meanwhile, as the chairman of the Sarawak Party Alliance, Abang Johari also praised all Sarawak legislators for their professionalism shown during this Sarawak Assembly session.

Despite the limited time, he said, everyone demonstrated the ability to manage their time efficiently.

“We had a serious and constructive meeting, unlike places where disruptions often occur.”

He also appreciated the success of the meetings, which was attributed to adhering to the parliamentary procedures and the guidance of the Speaker of the Sarawak Assembly, including amendments made to improve parliamentary order and decorum.
