However, medical staff on scene later confirmed that the man had unfortunately died, and the remains were handed over to the police for further action. The deceased has been identified as 38-year-old Philis Entli Analajan.

A total of six firefighters and one fire rescue vehicle were deployed for the operation. Three police officers and three Ministry of Health medical staff also assisted at the scene. The cause of the accident is still under further investigation by the relevant authorities.

On the other hand, Miri District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Lee Beng Chiang stated that the police have launched an investigation after receiving a report. The accident caused the four-wheel-drive driver to die at the scene, while the lorry driver was uninjured.

The police have initiated an investigation under Section 41(1) of the 1987 Road Transport Act (Dangerous Driving Causing Death).

The police are appealing for any witnesses or those with relevant information to contact Traffic Investigation Officer Insp. Nor Afifah Binti Nordin at 019-5264640 or 085-430479, or to approach the nearest police station to assist with the investigation.
