Heavenly Queen Faye Wong’s ex-husband Li Yapeng fell into 40 million RMB debt (about 23.52 million MYR) in 2015 due to investment failures, leading to a court-enforced execution. To repay the debt, he switched careers to selling tea. He and his wife Haiha Jinxi, who is 19 years his junior and a former Miss World, often live apart—one busy with work, the other caring for their daughter.
According to reports, Li Yapeng’s Yanran Angel Children’s Hospital has recently been listed as an enforced party, with the enforced amount around 13.81 million RMB (about 8.12 million MYR). Netizens are not optimistic, believing that if he hadn’t pursued side businesses and had focused on acting, things wouldn’t have turned out this way.
53-year-old Li Yapeng married the older pop diva Faye Wong in 2005. A year later, Faye gave birth to their daughter, Li Yan. Li Yapeng admitted online that their daughter was born with a cleft lip and palate, commonly known as a harelip. The couple spent large sums to take their beloved daughter to the United States for treatment and founded the Yanran Angel Foundation to help other children suffering from cleft lips and palates.
Reportedly, in June 2012, Faye Wong, Li Yapeng, and six other founders established the Yanran Angel Children’s Hospital in Beijing’s Chaoyang District, with initial capital of about 10 million RMB (about 5.88 million MYR). Services include pediatrics, pediatric gastroenterology, and pediatric respiratory specialties. Recently, the hospital appeared on Tianyancha app with a new enforcement message, stating an enforced amount of 13.81 million RMB (about 8.12 million MYR). After seeing this, netizens commented: “Li Yapeng wouldn’t be like this if he just focused on acting,” “Even if he had just laid low, it wouldn’t have been this bad—he’s just not cut out for business,” “He’s done so much charity, why doesn’t good get rewarded?” and “Luckily Faye Wong cut ties early on.”
