(Miri, 25th) The preparation work for the 2024 Miri City Christmas Parade is in its final sprint phase. Miri City Mayor Adam Yii Siew Sang presided over the final preparation meeting today to ensure that everything is ready for the upcoming 15th Miri City Christmas Parade with final confirmations and arrangements.
Miri City Mayor Adam Yii Siew Sang stated in the last preparation press conference with the organizing committee members in the conference hall on the 9th floor of the Miri City Council building that the Christmas Parade is an important annual festive event in Miri, aimed at reflecting the spirit of multicultural harmony and unity. This year's theme is "Jesus Christ – Light and Life of All Nations," hoping to showcase the harmonious atmosphere of Miri's multi-ethnic community through the event, while also conveying the festive meaning of love and hope.
This year's Christmas Parade will be grandly held on December 7th (Saturday) at Miri City Fan. The event will begin at 5 PM, featuring a variety of programs, including praise and worship, music and dance performances presented by participating churches, with a special performance by local talent Melissa Francis.
Moreover, various churches will participate in designing and showcasing festive floats, adding to the celebratory atmosphere of the event.
Route and International Participation
The parade will start from Miri city Fan, traversing major streets including Jalan Sylvia, Jalan Brooke, Jalan Kingsway, Jalan Puchong, Jalan Padang, Jalan Melayu, Jalan Nahkoda Gampar, Jalan Cina, Jalan Bendahara, Jalan North Yu Seng, Jalan South Yu Seng, Jalan Merpati, and Jalan Kipas, before returning to the starting point.
The event also invites representatives from Miri's sister cities, including La Trinidad in the Philippines, Sungai Penuh in Indonesia, and Gochang County in South Korea, to join the celebration.
Adam Yii Siew Sang emphasized that this year, continuing the spirit of Christmas, funds raised will be donated to designated charitable organizations to benefit more people in need. To ensure the safety of the event, the City Council will collaborate with the Royal Malaysia Police, enforcement teams, and church volunteers to maintain order.
"The Miri City Christmas Parade is an important platform for promoting unity and sharing joy. We hope citizens will actively participate and together create a harmonious festive celebration for Miri."
Adam Yii urged the public to actively participate and also reminded them to pay attention to safety during the event.
