A 53-year-old man, unhappy with his wife frequently uploading photos on Facebook, violently beat his 51-year-old wife and was ultimately arrested by the police.
This incident took place on October 30 in Ogan Ilir, South Sumatra, Indonesia. At the time of the incident, the suspect questioned his wife about her high activity on social media.
Because the wife did not respond, the suspect tried to snatch her phone. The two then got into an argument, which eventually escalated into physical violence. The wife's head and face were repeatedly struck, resulting in visible bruising.
The victim immediately reported to the police, who promptly arrested the suspect at his home. During the arrest, the suspect did not resist.
According to the police, the suspect admitted that his actions were driven by jealousy and suspicion over his wife's frequent photo uploads, leading to his emotional outburst and the assault.
Currently, the suspect has been charged under Article 44 of the 2004 Law No. 23 on the Elimination of Domestic Violence, facing up to 15 years in prison.
The victim, who suffered bruises on her head and face, is currently receiving treatment and psychological counseling to assist in her recovery from the trauma.
