(Miri 22nd) Sarawak Deputy Minister of Tourism Datuk Sebastian Ting met with the newly established committee of the Miri Cosplay Association at the Supp Piasau branch of the Sarawak United People's Party yesterday.
In his speech at the event, Sebastian Ting expressed his belief that the association could revitalize cosplay activities in Miri, as the association is not merely a hobby group. Its goal is to foster a more confident and creative younger generation in Sarawak through clothing and character enthusiasts.
He stated that with the establishment of the association, Miri is no longer just an oil town or a gateway to Niah or Mulu National Parks. It is transforming into an alternative capital of the arts in Southeast Asia, while Miri's traditional local arts will be given new life through modern technology and creative arts.
Additionally, the association's chairman, Muhd Azruld Anan, pointed out that the Miri Cosplay Association will make Miri a popular destination for cosplay art enthusiasts by organizing events or competitions.
It is reported that the Miri Cosplay Association has been officially registered with the Registrar of Societies and will become a landmark for innovation and unity among cosplay enthusiasts in Sarawak.
